Getting started

Who is Rivert for?

Employers in Cameroon that pay staff under Cameroonian law and want payroll, contracts, leave and reviews in one place, in French or in English.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Rivert runs in the browser at app.rivertapp.com, on a computer, a tablet or a phone.

What do I need before my first payroll?

Your CNPS régime (general, agricultural or private education) and your risk group (A, B or C), because they set your family-allowance and occupational-risk rates, and Rivert never guesses them. For declarations you also need the numbers the CNPS and the tax administration assigned you.

Can my team use it in French and in English?

Yes. Each person chooses their language, and can switch at any time.

Can employees see their own payslips?

Yes, once you give them portal access. They can then sign in to see their own payslips, leave and reviews, and nobody else's.

Payroll and tax

Are the CNPS and tax rates up to date?

Rivert calculates from the rates set in law: the CNPS rates and ceiling, the IRPP brackets, CAC, CFC, RAV and TDL. Where the published barème and the law disagree, the law wins.

What if I find a mistake after finalizing?

You record the correction in an adjustment run for that month. The original stays as it was, so your records always match what was actually paid and declared.

How are bonuses and a 13th month taxed?

IRPP is withheld each month on that month's pay, using the monthly scale. A month with a bonus is therefore taxed as if every month paid that much, which over-withholds. The difference is settled on the employee's own annual tax return.

Does Rivert handle benefits in kind?

Yes. Housing, vehicles, food, domestic staff, electricity, water, telephone and internet are valued at the percentages the law sets on cash pay, and included in the base for contributions and tax.

Why does a senior employee's IRPP differ from the DGI's table?

Above 750,000 F a month, the DGI's published table is indicative and uses an older CNPS ceiling. Rivert follows the General Tax Code, which caps the pension deduction at 750,000 F, so it withholds slightly more. The law prevails over the table.

Does it handle both CDI and CDD contracts?

Yes. Each employee's contracts are kept with their dates, and the Contract Movements Report lists who joined, left or changed contract.

Declarations

Does Rivert file my declarations?

No. Rivert prepares the CNPS declaration and the DIPE for you to file, and lets you record when each was submitted and accepted. Filing and paying remain with you as the employer.

What if a declaration I've filed turns out to be wrong?

Correct the payroll with an adjustment run, and Rivert produces an amended declaration that refers to the original. The filed version is never overwritten, so both remain on record.
